What a beautiful Saturday!

Today was one of the first Saturdays that the sun has shined all day in a long time.  I thought it would be a perfect day to take my children to the park for a picnic.  They had a blast.  I packed their favorite sandwiches, chips, pickles and juice for them and then threw in some watermelon just for good measure.  The kids played so hard and had a blast.

We haven’t had so much fun in a long time.  I even got on the playground equipment with them.  There was an old mill there that they used to grind corn into cornmeal and the kids were fascinated by it.  I hope we have another great weather day on the weekend soon because there are a lot of parks that aren’t that far from us to explore.

I just had to share a laugh with you!!

Granny is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car.   She writes:

Dear Grand-daughter,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a ‘Honk if you love Jesus’ bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.  So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.

Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.  I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn’t notice that the light had changed.  It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn’t honked, I’d never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, ‘For the love of God! Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!’ What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!

Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach.

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that. I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!!
Will write again soon,
Love,
Granny

Now this is a pretty neat gift

Posted by Alicia on Sunday May 17, 2009 Under Family, Life, home improvement, news

My father is one of those people that has to know what the 5 day forecast for the weather is so he can plan the next five days.  Well I couldn’t believe it when I found a 5 day Wireless Weather Forecaster by Brookstone.  That is absolutely the most perfect gift I can get for my father.  It’s also something that hopefully no one else would think to get him.

One year I got him a scale model of an Indian Motorcycle like he used to have and my sister got him the same thing but it happened to be a different color thank goodness.  Well I bet that won’t happen again this year.

Help when it’s most needed

Posted by Alicia on Tuesday May 5, 2009 Under government, money, penny pincher, rants and raves

Credit Card Counseling is everywhere in these economic times but this is a company unlike most debt consolidation companies. Most of those types of companies only help you with counseling or others only help you to find refinancing and still others get you into a service where you pay a certain amount per month and owe less in the end.

Well this is one company that helps you with all of the above and financial planning too. In all reality, financial planning is the best way to get out of debt and stay debt free while you plan for your future at the same time. I know that sounds impossible with the Dow doing what it’s been doing but these guys can help. Give them a try at thecreditexchange.com.
