Need TV anywhere?

Posted by Alicia on Thursday Oct 8, 2009 Under entertainment, home improvement, rants and raves, technology

Once they went to digital signals, the TV’s wouldn’t work unless you had cable or bought one of those boxes.  Well I found another way and it’s with a Slingbox. Strange name I know but it works not only on your TV but also on your computer or just about anything else you want to watch TV on.  It’s compatible with any TV and you can even watch your home TV on any other TV in your home.  Awesome!!!

Online college

Posted by Alicia on Tuesday Aug 25, 2009 Under education, money, rants and raves, technology

Most online colleges are good schools but I found how to get Online master degrees from one of the top ranked private colleges in the country.  Yes a lot of the top colleges are afraid that attending classes online will not give their students a proper education but just the opposite is true.

One things for sure, if Kiplingers Personal Finance ranks Gonzaga University a best value among private universities, then it has to be a great college.  I’m going to do a lot more checking into what they have to offer.  A good education is something no one can ever take from you.

This could have been me

Posted by Alicia on Thursday Aug 20, 2009 Under Life, money, technology

I just found out that a good friend of mine didn’t have any type of identity theft protection and all of a sudden she owes thousands of dollars on her credit card.  She has no idea how they got her information but they did and since she didn’t have protection, I’m not sure what she’ll be able to do about it.  Oh sure they’ll take some off but I’m not sure about all of it.  What a shame!!!

It’s amazing what kids can do

Posted by Alicia on Thursday Aug 20, 2009 Under education, entertainment, parenting, technology

You are not going to believe what this kid can do with Lego’s and silly putty.  From what I have been told by my son, the kid that created this is just 13 years old.  I wish I knew how he did it but my kids and I think it’s pretty darn cool.  What do you think?

My kid is so darn smart

Posted by Alicia on Tuesday Aug 4, 2009 Under parenting, shopping, technology

It blew me away when someone was trying to explain to me what a flash drive was and I just couldn’t understand what they were talking about.  Well up steps my 13 year old son and explained it to me and I finally understood.  Now I see why I need one.  Thank goodness my kid is smarter than I am when it comes to computers or I would be a computer idiot instead of computer illiterate.
